## Why does SPSS give a row of asterisks instead of a mean in the outputted pivot table?

SPSS has a unfortunate habit of producing a row of asterisks (something like this: *********) in pivot tables. This is due to the variable(s) in the spreadsheet having too many decimal places to fit in the table. The solution is simply to click on the variable view tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet and reduce the number in the decimals column.
