If you have example scripts for experiments it might be helpful if you could upload them here - with some description/explanation, of course.

Sound on DMDX Machines - Matt Davis reports (24/10/06):

Jack Rogers and I have set up an auditory experiment in the language lab and noticed some clicks and pops on certain sound files played through DMDX (though not when played in Cool Edit). We were able to fix this problem by specifying an alternative sound card in TimeDX. Rather than using the soundblaster cards that are installed in these machines, we used the sound system built into the motherboard. In order to get output from these machines, we then had to connect the headphone amplifier to the appropriate output on the back of the PC. This fixed the problem and all sound files played correctly.

We've set up the machines in booths 2 and 3 (middle and right-hand side) in this way. Sally Butterfield has equipment set up in booth 1, so we did not alter this machine (she has put a note on the computer needing updating). If anyone wishes to use DMDX and sound files in booth 1 they should ask me, Jack or Maarten for help in set up this machine.

Sound clicks on DMDX - Sally reports (26/10/06):

If changing sound card is not an option, it may be possible to avoid clicks by adding silence at offset of sound in wav files.

Running DMDX with USB-based I/O interface (11/1/07)- Sally reports:

The Keithley PCMCIA P I/O cards and cables we've used with DMDX are becoming increasingly scarce and may not be available soon. Jonathan Forster has recommended a card by another manufacturer and there is a similar, USB-based interface which might allow more flexibility and portability. The timing provided by the USB version will be investigated.
