I agree with EpiGrad. Can R cure it? I think it depends on the iniadiduvl and how he or she approaches R. For example, when I teach people R some have a much better understanding of the underlying statistical assumptions that they usually don't read in something like Keppel & Wickens (2004) in their first graduate stats class. However, this understanding is built because iniadiduvls want to figure out why their code keeps breaking and understand. A second class of researchers emerge here ones that simply want modifiable code written that they can largely copy and paste.
