Welcome

Welcome to the new updated wiki. The key changes are:

  • A clearer split between theory (now labelled "Analysis Priniciples") and practical details (Software, Using CBU computers)

  • A flatter page hierarchy, so most pages can be accessed in a couple of clicks

  • A new format, somewhat like the familar wikipedia, that fits more content on each page

  • A "new techniques" page, which we hope will grow'

If you can see ways to make the site better, please implement them, or send feedback to Rhodri Cusack.

  • [:DesigningStudies:Designing studies] - This covers both the principles behind the design of a good imaging experiment, and some practicalities that are useful in preparation for acquiring data.

  • [:AnalysisPrinciples:Principles of analysis] - A summary of the theory behind neuroimaging with fMRI.

  • AnalysisSoftware - A practical guide to the analysis software installed at the CBU, how to launch it and tips to help you use it effectively.

  • [:AnalysisHardware:Using CBU computers] - The machines available, and how to work with them.

  • [:NewTechniques:New techniques] - A summary highlighting some methods that are rapidly growing in popularity.

  • [:MeetingsListsContacts:Meetings] - How to learn from and contribute to the Cambridge Imaging community.

Neuroimaging studies are carried out on the CBU site using a Siemens 3T Tim Trio Magnetic Resonance Imaging (or MRI) scanner (see the MRI facility wiki) that is wholly dedicated to studies in Cognitive Neuroscience. The CBU now constitutes one of the largest concentrations of cognitive scientists and neuroscientists on a single site anywhere in the world, with nearly 100 active scientists, students and research staff. A priority in the CBU research strategy over the last 5 years has been to develop a strong research programme in neuroimaging, working closely with the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre, and more than half of the scientific staff and students are actively involved in neuroimaging projects. From emotions and memories to language and learning, functional neuroimaging is being applied in many different areas of Cognitive Neuroscience. In many cases, this research relies upon support from healthy volunteers although neuroimaging studies are also being conducted in various clinical populations, including depression, anxiety, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
